Everyday Almond Flax Keto Bread (1g Net Carbs per Slice)

This is great all purpose bread with a moist texture and nutty flavor. The ground flaxseed adds fiber to the loaf, and the almond flour and butter add a warm richness and. Each slice contains 7g of protein, and, better yet, only 1g of net carbs!


  •  1 1/3 cups ground flaxseeds (flaxmeal)
  •  2/3 cups almond flour
  •  1 tablespoon baking powder
  •  1 teaspoon salt (I use smoked salt for a slight, wood-burning oven kind of flavor.)
  •  1 teaspoon cream of tartar (optional, but helpful)
  •  5 egg whites
  •  2 whole eggs
  •  5 tablespoons butter, melted
  •  1/2 cup water
  • dash or squirt of Stevia (optional)


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients except cream of tartar. In a separate bowl, mix egg whites and cream of tarter at high speed with a hand mixer, until peaks form. Alternatively, you can use a blender or food processor, although it’s trickier to get all of the mixture out of the machine afterwards. Whisk all wet ingredients together, but do not overmix. Mixture should be fluffy and gelatinous.

Mix all ingredients together. Grease a bread pan (9″ x 5″), pour mixture into pan, and bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. Stick a toothpick into the loaf and make sure it comes out clean before removing the pan from the oven. 

This bread is amazing served warm with butter or cream cheese. For a quick breakfast, I will throw some fried or scrambled eggs on top. So satisfying!
